With this album, The Kinks stylistically finally moved away from the from the beat music of earlier years and exclusively used compositions by the band's singer - Ray Davies used. The first single from the album was called "Sunny Afternoon" and reached number one in the UK charts in the UK charts. The album ushered in a very successful period for the band and is considered to be one of the best of its time.
