Backed by some of the most sought-after talent in the business and brimming with confidence, Jack Savoretti is at the current peak of his career with Written In Scars. The first track “Back To Me”, co-produced by Samuel Dixon (Adele), already reveals his new sound. The almost infectious rhythm runs like a thread through the entire album.

On “Written In Scars” Jack Savoretti has found his very own voice not only musically but also vocally, which is often compared to Paolo Nutini and George Ezra. The first single, “Tie Me Down,” which he co-wrote with Matty Benbrook (Jake Bugg), is a perfect example of his warm, raspy yet sensual vocals. He now became truly aware of his family’s musical influence for the first time: “My mother listened to The Eagles, Crosby, Stills & Nash and everything from Motown when I was little. My father, on the other hand, played mostly Italian music from the ’60s and ’70s,” he recalls. Finally, what he calls the “Euroclash” of his past is the Spanish guitar heard in the title track, a stormy revolutionary anthem, as well as in the second single, “Home.” It also makes an appearance alongside the melancholy piano of “Back To Me” and in “The Hunger.” Most impressive, however, is the loose and smooth nature of the songs, which are largely driven by percussion. The aforementioned groove is omnipresent, on the lilting “Don’t Mind Me,” a midtempo number that gets the hips swaying, to the gorgeous, folk-tinged “Broken Glass.” The hypnotic chorus of “Home,” the repetitive piano riff of “The Other Side Of Love” and the wild finale of “Fight The End” finally bring the album full circle

Lyrically, “Written In Scars” is about the struggles and challenges of everyday life and how to successfully overcome them.
